Armed Robbery of Pickens County Woman
On Friday, April 18th, 2014 at approximately 12:00pm an armed robbery and assault of a Pickens County woman occurred at her home located along Gordo-Reform Road. The suspects in this case followed the victim home and robbed her in her yard after she exited her vehicle. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries during the robbery and assault.
The suspects have been identified as, Anthony Glenn Poe, a white male from Smithville, Mississippi and Karen Michelle Barker, a white female from Oxford, Mississippi.
Both suspects were last seen traveling in an older model silver Mercury Sable with Mississippi tags. The suspects cashed a stolen check from the robbery victim around 1:40pm in Northport, Alabama.
Pickens County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the crime and placed pertinent information in the hands of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Pickens County Sheriff’s Office alerts and U.S. Marshals Task Force operations on Saturday, April 19th lead to the couples capture and arrest after a pursuit by Pontotoc County Mississippi, Sheriff’s Deputies, U.S. Marshals, Lee County Mississippi Sheriff’s Deputies and Tupelo Police Officers.
Pontotoc County Mississippi Sheriff’s Office attempted to take the two suspects into custody in Pontotoc, Mississippi when they fled in their vehicle. The suspects were pursued into Tupelo, Mississippi where they wrecked their vehicle. Suspect Barker remained at the scene. Suspect Poe ran from the scene on foot but taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit by officers.
Anthony Poe and Karen Barker are suspects in an armed robbery in Tupelo, Mississippi on Thursday April 17th, 2014. Both suspects are being held in the Lee County Mississippi Jail on local Robbery Charges as well as other local charges stemming from the pursuit. Suspects Poe and Barker are also awaiting extradition to Pickens County to face charges of Robbery first degree, Assault first degree and Theft of Property first degree.
