Sheriff David Abston reports,


On March 13, 2018 Pickens County Deputies responded to the area of Oak Grove Road, Gordo. Victim called 911 and stated that she had been hit in the head with a pistol by Marvin Keith Driver. Suspect left the scene walking and was picked up by his brother in a black Toyota Camry. Gordo Police Department attempted to stop the vehicle. The suspect attempted to elude the police and wrecked on County Road 33. Driver fled the car on foot into the woods behind the house where the car was wrecked. Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Dog Team was called and suspect was apprehended approximately 1,000 meters in the woods in a ditch of water. This was the first capture for the beagles Daisy, Duke, and Bill.


Marvin Keith Driver of Gordo was charged with assault 2nd, person forbidden to possess firearm, attempt to elude, use/possession drug paraphernalia, open container of alcohol in vehicle, and three counts of reckless endangerment. Marvin Keith Driver is in the Pickens County Jail in lieu of $18,600.00.
